Unlike other RPGs,Larian Studiosand its acclaimedDivinity: Original Sinseries try to add unique and often extremely entertaining twists to their games' narratives. Despite its fantasy setting,Divinity: Original Sin 2teaches players to feel fear. In Act 2, the Corpse of Alice Alisceon represents such an instance.
RELATED:
Players will encounter Alice while doing the quest "Treated Like Cattle" in Driftwood. In this Act 2 quest, players need to find a way to restore the forms of Geraldine and Mabel, two cows that turned out to be former humans enslaved by Alice. Upon further exploration, players soon encounter Alice— not the typical "witch" with long robes and a pointy hat. Rather, it's the Corpse of Alice Alisceon, a crucified woman on fire, screaming. Unfortunately, players soon realize Alicehas rather atrocious powerful attacks. So how should players defeat her?
Know Thy Enemy

In a lot of instances, players tend to rush into boss battles willy-nilly and, if they suffer a TPK, simply repeat until the boss submits. Unfortunately, such a strategy won't work with Alicegiven her statistics right off the bat. Players who try to rush Alice tend to suffer TPKs given her various immunities and resistances.
Looking at her Examine section, Alice has Immunities to Poisoned, Warm, Bleeding, Diseased, Infected, and Slipping. In turn, more powerful Pyrokinetic and Scoundrel Skills won't work on her. Moreover, her Resistances grant her healing from Poison (200%), half damage to Air (50%), and 160% Resistance to Fire. Interestingly, Alice has a Weakness against Water (-50%), so not-so-used Hydrosophist Skills do work on her.
Killing Shining Lights

As Alice puts it, she wants to"kill your shining lights"witha plethora of powerful abilities. For instance, upon entering combat, Alice will try to one-hit TPK the party with a massive Fireball— with those surviving having the entirety of their Magic Armor removed or a little of their health left.
Moreover, her Aura of Pain ensures everyone who tries to melee her receives devastating Piercing damaging. In essence, attacking her within melee is also punishing.Additionally, Alice possesses Retribution combat ability. In turn, all characters that attack her will receive 50-percent of the damage they deal.
Split Alice And The Totems

Two things make the battle against Alice extremely hard: Alice, and her Totem minions. However, characters don't necessarily have to fight Alice in her fiery cliff. In fact, players should always consider splitting Alice from her troupe of Totems to make the battle much easier.
Essentially, players should teleport Alice off the cliff and onto the beach. That way, Alice will spend her turn trying to walk back to the cliff. Moreover, players can avoid taking damage from the fiery cliff's surface by attacking the Totems from the structure just south of the area.Meanwhile, a rogue or someone withsneak-based Talent like Guerillacan simply sneak-attack Alice and eliminate her.
Bless Thy Neighbor

Granted, Alice's Retribution and Aura of Pain make it painstakingly hard to hit her. Apparently, Alice has resurfaced as an Undead in order to exact revenge on everyone who's tortured her forbeing a witch. Her Aura of Pain is a curse that reflects such pain. However, if the Aura of Pain is a curse, then shouldn't Bless be able to remove this? Turns out, it can!
RELATED:
Players can remove Alice's Aura by casting Bless on her. Granted, this does also give Alice the same buffs a Blessed character gets. However, other characters can also Bless the Cursed Fire on the Alice's feet, converting it first into ordinary fire and then into blessed fire for some interesting effects (take note, she's Undead).
She Is Still Undead

Despite her intimidating nature, players should remember that the game still considers Alice as an Undead. In turn, all effects that affect Undead also apply to her. As such, players can makedefeatAlice once they start healing herwith Restoration (Hydrosophist). This move will start removing her Physical Armor until it starts damaging her Vitality. Remember, healing-based damage to Undead completely ignores Magical Defense.
Players who want to skip having to meet cooldowns with healing Skills should use Soul Mate (Summoning) instead. After all, this Skill copies all healing and restoration affecting the caster and gives it to the target. As such, a character can simply use Soul Mate on Alice and consume a ton of healing potions. Not only do these damage Alice, but they also don't trigger Retribution.
Bad Totems, Bad Karma

Interestingly, players who want a more brutal take on the healing-Alice strategy can use her very Totems against her. Firstly, players shouldcast Bless on Alice to remove herAura of Pain. Afterward, a character with points inSummoning and Necromancy Skill Schoolsshould use Rallying Cry on Alice.
Normally, Rallying Cry heals a target based on the number of allied totems and characters nearby. In turn, using Rallying Cry on Alice heals her based on her allies— the totems— which will essentially cripple her Physical Armor and even some of her health. After using Rallying Cry, that character should use Shackles of Pain (Necromancy) so both them and Alice receive the same damage. Since Alice loves her Fireball so much, her casting of it might even cause her own demise.
No More Fireball

Alice's first-turn Fireball alongside her Totems serve as irritation to most parties. However, there's a way to eliminate her without too much hassle. Firstly, have one minor party member wait in a nearby clearing away from the fiery cliff. Afterward, have one character cast Bless to remove Alice's Aurawithout triggering combat. Next, someone should teleport Alice beside the minor party member. Only then will this prompt the "pre-battle" dialogue.

Afterward, the rest of the party can simply attack the Totems without risking Alice's wrath. Lastly, the party can pick off Alice before even starting the combat by having them attack her from stealth.
Go To The Edge Of Glory

Players who prefer fighting Alice with an element of risk can do an interesting takeprovided theyhave amagethat has the Living On The Edge Skill (Necromancer) Skill, and a tank character that can cast Forced Exchange (Polymorph).
Essentially, the mage shouldcast Living On The Edge to the tank character prior to engaging Alice. This allows the latter to possibly withstand Alice's powerful Fireball. Afterward, the tank character must melee Alice until she runs out of Physical Armor. Afterward, the tank charactershould cast Forced Exchangeto exchange HP with Alice. Theoretically, this reduces Alice's HP to one and open for the kill.
Let The Demon HunterDo It

If Jahan the Demon Hunter boasts of his expertise in killing demons, then surely he can eliminate Alice, right? Thing is, there'sa way players can force Alice to confront Jahan herself. Firstly, a character with ranged specializations (e.g.,a class like a battlemage or a ranger) should wait near Jahan's home but within proximity of Jahan. Secondly, have another character with enough range to teleport Alice to the nearby beach. This will force Alice to try to return to her cliff. However, she will stop near Jahan's house due to her AP limit.
Afterward, the ranged character should enter combat by engaging Alice, which in turn prompts Jahan to join. When Jahan beats Alice, then players know they shouldn't mess with Jahan.
Chicken Claw Saves The Day

Chicken Claw can once again save the day in yet another boss fight. This strategy remains a derivative of the beach strategy. Firstly, players with great range orthe Far Out Man Talentshould teleport Alice into the cliff below. This tactic removes her from the fiery cliff and removes potential fire damage to all characters. Afterward, a character needs to cast Bless to remove Alice's Aura of Pain and leave her free for melee attacks.
Once players completely remove her Physical Armor, a character can simply transform her into a chicken via Chicken Claw. Hopefully, the two turns of Chicken Claw should give players enough time to eliminate Alice.
